Description
The Blue Ash Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Auxiliary Police Officer.
The Auxiliary Police Officer performs supplemental police work in the protection of life, property and pres-ervation of
peace through the enforcement of laws and ordinances; and other appropriate duties as assigned by or through the
Chief of Police in providing support to police operations.
He or she performs enforcement as well as safety related duties and functions. These include, but are not limited to,
promoting and maintaining public image, responding to calls for service of a non-enforcement nature, preventing, de-
tecting, and investigating crime, enforcing violations of criminal statutes, and providing protective services. The Auxiliary
Police Officer reports directly to a first-line supervisor and shall supplement the efforts of full-time Police Officers.
Required Knowledge and Skill
Good social and general intelligence
Ability to deal firmly and courteously with the public
Good knowledge of first-aid methods
Good judgment
Some skill in the use of firearms
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Ability to drive an automobile under adverse conditions
Good powers of agility
Excellent physical condition
Basic computer skills in use of email and internet
Prior police experience preferred
Requirements
Possess current certification by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council as an Ohio Peace Officer
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the State of Ohio
Possess U.S. Citizenship
Must be a high school graduate or G.E.D. Equivalent
Must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment
Must be free of felony convictions, convictions of an offense that would be a felony if committed in Ohio, or
indictments for a felony offenses that would preclude the applicant from possessing a firearm
Must not be under any type of restraining or protection order from a court that would preclude the applicant from
possessing a firearm
Additional Requirements
Must attain and maintain certifications for access into local, state and national criminal history databases and
associated telecommunications systems after appointment
Must satisfactorily pass a personal background investigation by law enforcement to include a polygraph, physical
exam and drug screen prior to appointment
Must satisfactorily pass an age and gender based physical fitness/agility test within the 50th percentile rank prior to
appointment (standards available on request)
Must satisfactorily pass a department firearms qualification course prior to appointment
Salary
Pay Range is $16.98 - $22.94 hourly
