F.O.P Lodge #84   19 January 2010
1940- Opening prayer and pledge of allegiance.
Roll call of officers- Patti Brown, Fr. Bruno
Installation of new officers
Reading of minutes from December 2009 waived.
• President- January 23rd Winter Board Meeting at Capital City Lodge #9
• Nick Di Marco- hanging it up in upcoming Nov. State election.
• Lodge promoter- contract needs to be refilled
• 36 officers back from layoff list- Hamilton County Sheriffs’ Office and two promoted to lieutenant. Chris
Ketteman & Rick Neville.  Brad Justice to Sgt. Michael Hater, Don Fore and Steve Boster to Patrol.
• Deputy Tim McCalla involved in head on collision. In the hospital with a broken sternum.
• If you are renewing license plates make sure that you get them before your birthday. Or they will tack
on a 20 dollar late fee.
• February 8th FOP National Day of the Hill in DC- Cancelled.
• February 6th Polar Bear Plunge- Newport , 14th annual Polar Bear Plunge will take place on Feb. 27th at
Geneva State Park. The event raises money for the Ohio Special Olympics and is a great time.
• CIRS- The FOP is very charitable and our generosity is usually directed towards the Special Olympics
and Easter Seals. FOP of Ohio has its own charity that is designed to save the lives and careers of law
enforcement officers. The Critical Incident Response Foundation helps to provide peer counseling and
education to first responders who experience critical incidents on the job or off.
• As if your jobs weren’t already difficult enough… More and more of the FOP Ohio Labor Council are
seeing cases of MRSA. Our members are contracting MRSA in jails and on the street.                             
What is it?
• A type of bacteria that cause infection ranging from skin abcesses to severe blood infections.
• It is resistant to certain  antibiotics.
• It is becoming more prevalent in the community.
• Mike Hartmanns’ dad passed away.

• Vice President- nothing

• Secretary- Needs your dues. Received a card from one of the kids from Kids n. Cops for Christmas

Gene Ruwe was doing well after surgery.

• Treasurer-Bills read, motion made bills to be paid.

New Business-
E mail about raffle asking $50 from each lodge. Steve will find out about it.
Dale Mikes- is on the list for a Liver Donor.
Joe Higgins  brought up Strickers Grove to have the picnic again.

• Split the pot- Scott Jacocks
• Attendance- Rich Rothwell, not in attendance will roll into next month.
